Independents expose major parties’ sell-out of Queenslanders
Media release
Tag-team voting by the LNP opposition in support of a government amendment promoting the coal seam gas industry in the Queensland parliament last night proved that both major parties are ignoring the legitimate concerns of Queenslanders and acting as lackeys of the gas industry.
‘They are putting the interests of multinational corporations ahead of the health and wellbeing of the state of Queensland,’ Queensland Greens spokesperson Libby Connors said today.
‘Only the Independents and Aidan McLindon had the courage to voice the concern of ordinary people about impacts on their water, health and cropping lands to vote against the government’s amended motion.
‘Only the Independents and Queensland Party members understand how useless it is to regulate after environmental harm is caused which is all that the state government’s 600 environmental conditions can do.
