Mining on farm land

Alan Jones - 2GB radio - 23.9.2011

Listen to this Alan Jones’ program, as he talks about “governments’ endless pursuit of mining money” and how under Anna Bligh’s government, mining and gas exploration licences have grown from 2% of Queensland’s land mass, to 23% of Queensland – an incredible 43.6 million hectares. Mining exploration has jumped 1,000% in 5 years, under the Bligh Labour govt. Alan also talks to Dr. Mariann Lloyd-Smith, about the carcinogenic chemicals that CSG mining uses, and the tonnes of polluted salt that is left behind from the “associated water”. The NSW Dept. of Planning has acknowledged that BTEX chemicals are a component of the diesel fuel that is used as the base for drilling fluids.
